A reminder to all that the last day to enter online nominations for the 2013 Southern Track Classic is next Wednesday, May 1st at 5PM. 46 schools have entered so far and all events look strong, but are not filled. This will be a great year for boys and girls in the hurdles and sprints. The boys' high jump could be the deepest in the history of the state. Many of the best distance runners have indicated that they are waiting untill after this weekend to determine which events they want to enter, although there are at least 2 quality entrants in each event. This year, the Southern Track Classic is sanctioned for ALL public and private schools in Virginia unless they have a championship meet on that day. Many private schools have taken advantage of this unusual opportunity and nominated athletes. In a factoid oddity from last year--- the Southern Track Classic with the smallest number of sections of any meet, had over 200 MileSplit US elite marks. Those number of elite performances clearly indicate where the top quality meet is being held.
