Great Meadow Invitational Coverage

Returning Foot Locker finalist Allie Klimkiewicz opened her season with the state's fastest 5K time after week in a 18:17 victory at the Great Meadow Invitational. Klimkiewicz and the Oakton girls won big as in over 100 points big in the varsity A division (runners-up Colonial Forge had 157 points). Oakton had 4 runners in the top 15 between Klimkiewicz, Hailey Dougherty (4th, 19:15), Kara Kendall (9th, 19:36), and Maryn McCarty (14th, 19:56) to help them tally a low team score of 55 points. Paul Adam of Lee-Davis went into this season fairly under the radar despite running just under 16 minutes last fall for 5K. The senior Adam made his presence known by outkicking last week's Chancellor Invite winner Colin Crilly of Good Counsel (MD) for a 15:52 personal best 5K clocking to start his season with a win at the Great Meadow Invitational. Also running strong individually at Great Meadow in his season debut was Loudoun Valley sophomore Andrew Hunter dropping considerable time from his previous best with a 16:01 performance for third place.
