Montgomery County Invitational Meet Summary

LANDOVER, MD -- Sean Holston did it again at the Prince George County Sports and Learning Complex with his third US#1 performance in his third different event with a personal best 47.90 clocking in the 400 meter dash at Saturday\'s Montgomery Invitational in Landover, Maryland. Holston already owns the US#1 times for 300 (33.99) and 500 (1:03.94) meters as all three nation\'s best times were posted on the same track at Prince George. However, his national leading time was short lived as Chris Ward of Florida (47.42) and Curtis Bilbrew of Alabama (47.68) posted faster times on a much faster and banked track found at the University of Arkansas later on Saturday.

Holston\'s time may be the fastest ever run by a Virginian indoors for 400 meters as his time puts himself just off the US all-time top 20 indoors with a 47.60 cutoff. There are currently no past Virginians on the all-time top 20 national list and it is unlikely there is a Virginian in the one tenth of a second gap that exists from the top 20 list and Holston\'s time. Holston already finds himself ranked #20 US all-time in the 300 meter dash at 33.99 and #17 US all-time in the 500 meter dash at 1:03.93 with his times this season. The question will be if he will get another crack at the 400 meter dash this season as likely his lone remaining opportunity may be at one of the two indoor national championships in Landover with Nike Indoor Nationals or New York City with the National Scholastic Indoor Championships.

Catherine White has been on plenty of national lists as the Northside senior has put up times over the past year on the track to rank her with the nation\'s best. At the Montgomery Invitational, White won the Millrose Mile qualifier race in a season best time of 4:59.28 to break the meet record of 5:02.88. White is the first Virginian to break five minutes this season and improved upon her state best with the performance. White just missed her second meet record of the day in the 3200 meter run, which ironically was set by her last year in 10:51.56. She ran just a second off last year\'s time with a 10:52.86 victory. Her mile time is the third fastest in the country this season on a flat track and her 3200 ranks her first in the nation among flat track performances.
