Top 10 Most Popular Team Pages of 2014!

With the most popular athletes list being released already it is now time to release the list of the ten most popular team pages. Surprsingly enough, many of the teams on this list are more popular then you could guess. Check out to see if your team got onto this list and what some of these teams shared in common to make it onto this list.

1. Glen Allen 9,990

Glen Allen was one of the top 4A programs all year performing well in each of the three seasons. Pictured above was one of their star athletes, Stanley Davis, who could be the best athlete in the state. He is a stellar 300m hurdle runner and also one of the best 800m runners in the entire state. Glen Allen is in conference 20 and the 5A South region.

2. Western Branch 6,974

There is not much you can say about this team. The girls scored over 140 points at the state meet, won all three relays and won multiple national titles. The boys also won national titles and placed highly at the state meet. This team is located in conference 2 and the 6A South region.

3. Deep Run 6,826

Led by Matthew Novak, Deep Run no doubt makes their way onto this list for producing some of the best pole vaulters and distance runners in the entire state. Novak, who is pictured above, was a multiple event state champion and faired very strongly at the national competition. Deep Run is in conference 11 and the 5A South region.

4. Atlee 6,809

Atlee was one of the most well-rounded teams in the state this year. They had stellar pole vaulting and field events and also great distance and hurdle cores. India Lowe, who is pictured faced injuries down the stretch of the season but when she is healthy can help lead her teammates to a state title. Atlee is the third team from the former Capital/Colonial District to make it on this list, in fact the only team not in that district to be listed higher is Western Branch. Atlee is a member of conference 11 and the 5A South region.

5. Blacksburg 6,351

Blacksburg has to be considered the best distance high school in the entire state, regardless of classification. The Blacksburg girls won the triple crown and the boys were so close, just a few points here and there, to doing the same. The boys 4x800 was definitely one of the most impressive relays in the country let alone the state of Virginia. Though many of the top boy runners are moving onto the collegiate ranks, the girls team is only getting stronger with all the returning talent. This team will definitely be hanging near the top for at least another year. Blacksburg competes in the 3A West region and conference 32.

6. Forest Park   6,131

With two of the best sprinters the state has ever seen, it is really no surprise to see Forest Park so high on this list. Mustaqeem Williams, pictured above, and Ricky Morgan both lit up the state for four years with their speed, jumping, and amazing relay performances. Forest Park is in Conference 4 and the 6A Southern region.

7.Patriot 5,739

With a plethora of young talent, Patriot is one of the teams that will definitely be moving up this list in the coming year. Since they are returning their two best distance girls, Rachel McArthur and Candance Jones, things should be looking up for this team. Patriot was the first Northern Region team to make this list and is joined below by another. Patriot competes in the 6A North region and Conference 8.

8. Hidden Valley 5,720

Hailing from Conference 32 and the 3A West Region is Hidden Valley shocking the entire state to make it on this list. Despite competing against some of the stiffest competition in the entire Commonwealth, they still found a way to finish the year with numerous All-State honors and even a state champion in Breontae Crump who won the girls shot put competition. With the way this team uses their teampage as a central hub for information, this team will be a long-time member of this list for many years to come.

9. Western Albemarle 5,593

Western Albemarle, coming from the 3A West Region and Conference 29 is another distance and vaulting heavy program making their onto this list. They almost solidfy that you need good pole vaulting and distance running to make it on this list. Leading them part of the way was Caleb Rider who finished the season as one of, if not the, best pole vaulters in the entire state.

10. Battlefield 5,530

What is really surprising is that Battlefield is one of the only two Northern Region team to make it onto this list. Battlefield being led by Galissia Cause (pictured) and Ellison Grove competed well all season through some pretty big star athletes. With them moving on it will be interesting to see who moves up into this last spot or if a new star at their school keeps them on this list. Battlefield is a member of Conference 8 and the 6A North region.
