Girls 2015 Outdoor T&F All-MileStat Teams

First Team All-MileStat

100m Dash

Tori Ray (Hampton)

11.88

5A State Champion

Tori did the impossible this season by winning the elusive sprints triple crown. That's right, she won the 100, 200, and 400 at the 5A State meet this year.

200m Dash

Lauryn Ghee (Grassfield)

23.96

6A State Champion

Lauryn Ghee continued her dominance in-state in the 200. So far, she has only ever lost a single 200 in the state of Virginia and that was her freshman year (last year) when she finished second at States.

400m Dash

Destiny Ward (Oscar Smith)

53.97

6A State Champion

A lot of folks forget about Destiny with so many great athletes down in the former Eastern Region but Destiny could very well be one of the best out there. She is also a super-sophomore and on a path to try and break Francena's records!

800m Run

Amanda Thomas (Western Branch)

2:10.22

6A State Champion

There is a specific reason why Amanda is the anchor for so many champion relay teams and that is because she is clutch. This outdoor season we finally got to see her race in a couple open 800s and she definitely has some speed! She finished the year off with a bang by winning the 6A State title and atop the Virginia leaderboard.

1600m Run

Rachel McArthur (Patriot)

4:46.20

Dream Mile Participant

Rachel came to run this season and she not only did that but also proved she is one of the best distance runners ever to run in the state. She finished the year atop the leaderboard and was the Southern Track Classic Mile champion to go along with her berth in the adidas Dream Mile.

3200m Run

Libby Davidson (E.C. Glass)

10:21.05c

National Runner-up

Libby struggled to convert her XC super-star status to track but this year it was a different story. She finished the year off with a huge exclamation mark finishing with all-american honors in both the 5000 and 2 Mile! Her run at New Balance Outdoors also moved her into the top 10 all-time in Virginia.

100m Hurdles

Funlayo Oluwole (Western Branch)

13.38

6A State Champion

Funlayo now can officially call herself the best hurdler to ever run at Western Branch, so far. That honor alone could be the highest she achieved! She shocked a lot of us at states this year when she ran a blistering 13.38 to win the title in the second fastest time ever in the state.

300m Hurdles

Brandee' Johnson (Nansemond River)

41.33

#2 All-time, 4A State Champion

Brandee' is one of those runners that is super talented but also super secretive about her talent. Her coaching staff do a great job of keeping her rested and under the radar but they couldn't keep her 41.33 too much under the radar considering it was #2 all-time in the state of Virginia. She also finished as national runner-up in the 400m hurdles at NBN running a 57.63!

Long Jump

Milan Parks (Western Branch)

19-4

Milan will go down as having one of the best careers ever in the state of Virginia. She was specifically well decorated in the long jump where she brought home three state titles over the past two years and one runner-up this season. She finished the season tied for second in the state in this event.

Triple Jump

Titiana Marsh (Thomas Dale)

41-2

6A State Champion

Call her the queen of the jumps. As only a freshman Titiana has now won two triple jump state titles and a long jump state title. She set the indoor freshman national record this season and came close to doing that outdoors as well. Her coaches are letting her rest and train for years to come and thus skipped out on competing at nationals. Though if she had competed, there was a good chance that she would be coming home with that national title.

High Jump

Crystal Jones (Colonial Forge)

5-8

6A State Champion

This season there were a ton of girls right at 5-6 and 5-8 but the most consistent of the bunch was Crystal Jones. She defended her indoor state title this season by taking home the outdoor 6A crown as well with her clearance of 5-6. Her best on the season though was 5-8.

Pole Vault

Kathryn Tomczak (Lafayette)

12-9

3A State Champion

Kathryn literally vaulted her way above and beyond the competition this season. She finished the season with a best mark of 12-9 which was a full 1.5 feet above any other vaulter in the state. To seal the deal though she was our 2015 conference, regional, state, and Southern Track Classic champion.

Shot Put

Zakiya Rashid (Nansemond River)

45-3.5

4A State Champion

Well we know this is a picture of her throwing the discus but you really cannot beat it! Speaking of not being able to beat someone, Zakiya was untouchable at the 4A State level as she brought home the shot put, discus, and team trophy this season.

Discus Throw

Dominique Johnson (Fauquier)

147-11

VA #1

Finishing on top of the Virginia leaderboard this season is Dominique Johnson. She threw her way onto the leaderboard mid-season at the Southern Track Classic where she showed everyone that she meant business. She had a sub-par throwing day at states and finished with a state runner-up medal but got the last laugh finishing the season as the best discus thrower this season.

4x100m Relay

Nansemond River

46.25

National Runners-up

Nansemond really saved the best for last running a blazing 46.25 to finish as national runners-up at New Balance Outdoor Nationals. This team also won the prestigious Small Schools title at the Penn Relays and could be coming back next year stronger then ever.

4x400m Relay

Western Branch

3:38.53

State Record

When you run the fastest 4x400 our state has ever seen with three underclassmen then you are guaranteed to win this award. Western Branch once again put on a show at nationals by finishing in 3:38 to break their own state record set just a year ago by almost three full seconds. The scary thing is that this team returns three legs and has plenty of replacements too!

4x800m Relay

Patriot

9:03.04

Finishing the season in the top five all-time in Virignia are the girls from Patriot and their 4x800. This team ran their best race basically solo and no doubt could have gone well under 9:00 with competition. Unfortunately you cannot just transfer those type of times over like that but the smart minds know that this team was one of the best our state has ever seen combining both speed and distance talent.
