13 Scariest Teams In Virginia!

There are a lot of scary fast individuals in Virginia this year but there some even scarier teams that are not only fast but deep too! These teams dominate and annihilate their competition constantly which makes them just that more intimidating. Here are your top 13 scariest XC teams in Virginia this year!

#13 Heritage (Leesburg) Girls

Heritage may have nice pink unis and seem nice but they are flat out scary! The main reason they make this list, aside from being one of the best teams is that they have the scariest girl to race in the state. Weini Kelati, in her final year of HS running is putting on a show and scaring her competition away as soon as 800m into a race. Then again when you open in 4:50 people tend to let you do your thing. Not many people want to race Kelati or Heritage.

#12 Midlothian Boys

On paper Midlothian Midlo is ranked 12th but when you turn the lights out like we did at the RVA Relays Midlothian shows you why you should be scared. They have a lot of talent and are quickly figuring out their roles on the team. If they put everything together by the time the state meet happens they could be the team best suited to pull off a huge upset. This team is good and may have one of the best coaches in the entire state coaching them. Whatever you do, don't race them at night!

#11 Blacksburg Boys

You should always fear a team that has nothing to lose and something to fight for. This year's Bruin squad enters the season as a big underdog running for their coach's last season. With all of that on the line and the reemergence of Sam Teller makes them a scary team. Currently ranked 6th in the state they also have a strong lead over the 3A classification. They will have company but it is all a matter of how close. After their strong performance at MileStat.com XC Invitational we now know to be very afraid of these Bruins.

#10 Oakton Girls

Dominating their conference meet and being the defending 6A Champs make them pretty scary to us. These girls are ranked 8th in the state and are doing all this after having lost one of their top three returning athletes to transfers. They are making no excuses and quickly gathering up some impressive wins including the Albemarle Invitational. They have yet to race on a flat fast course but definitely aren't fooling anyone. They may not have enough firepower this year to take the 6A crown but they certainly have young talent including Casey Kendall (pictured) who is only a junior and leads the team at 18:20. She is then joined by four sophomores and another junior. That means there is only one senior on this team and they average 19:20. Be afraid.

#9 Maggie Walker Boys

Unbeatable Dragons. Do we need to say more? These guys refuse to lose and keep sweeping 2A year after year. Though they have a small school they have big goals and very impressive runners that have led them to be ranked 6th in the state. Led by the best runner in 2A, Ryan Buscaglia and joined by a whole lot of talented guys this team could do some scary things on November 14th.
