Lets Try This Again: 3A/4A Team Title & Remaining Events Preview!

4A Boys

Finally in the final team title race it is the 4A boys which could actually have the most exciting finish of them all. This classification has actually only scored 13/17 events with the high jump, 800, 200, and 4x400 to still be scored. What that means is, we have a lot of points still on the table.

              Men - State 4A - Team Rankings - 13 Events Scored
===============================================================================
    1) Liberty Christian Academy 51 2) Heritage (Newport News) 41
    3) Loudoun Valley 38 4) Lafayette 33
    5) William Fleming 28 6) Courtland 27
    7) Fauquier 25 8) Millbrook 23
    9) Sherando 19 10) Midlothian High School 17

The most anticipated of these points are those in the 800 with Andrew Hunter vs Trevor Whiteside and Raul Chavez. If you take one look at the team scores you see that Loudoun Valley needs points desperately. They really need 10 points from Andrew and maybe a point or two from Colton Bogucki who is seeded 8th.

Those 11 possible points bring them to 49 total points just behind LCA. The 800 though isn't the only event left.

High Jump has still yet to be scored and if athletes score like it is on paper then Lafayette will pick up a big 10 points and move up to 43 points with LCA also picking up 5 points to move up to 56 points.

The next event on the track will be the 200m dash final. Here are the entries into that race.

Not only is this race going to be very close but it is also going to be a preview for years to come as only one finalist is a senior in this race. This race is of the utmost importance and can mean a lot for William Fleming and Heritage to say the least.

Still, the event that is going to make the most noise could really be the high jump.

Here are our estimated team scores leading into the 4x400s.

    5) William Fleming 36 6) Fauquier 35

All of this builds up to the final event on the track, actually the final race on the track as this event will be run off last. Obviously LCA being in this final event will control their own destiny but really Heritage has the most control over their own destiny seeded 4th. If they scored those five points and Towns wins the 200 then we are talking about a dead tie for the team title!

That is why we say the high jump may the event to watch where a tie with multiple athletes could cost you .33 points and thus the team title. Every single attempt is going to matter this Wednesday.

William Fleming enters the competition as the top seed and Fauquier is close behind but both need to pick up extra points in the 800 and 200 to really have a shot at chasing someone down.

Loudoun Valley and LCA will be in the unseeded section and will be chasing the clock.
