Team War first took Arcadia (Los Angeles) by storm then Texas last April and this weekend they decided to show Florida Relays what the Warriors of Nansemond River are all about. They alongside alum Brandee' Johnson completely put on a clinic in Gainesville this weekend.

Highlighting their weekend action was their 4x400 producing a VA #10 all-time performance of 3:43.90 after a strong 3:50 in the prelims. They followed that up with a US #3 1:36.56 4x200 with three of their four "A" runners competing.

Though they definitely lost some talent from last year, this early season performance shows us that they once again will have the firepower to attempt and sweep the sprint relays at New Balance Outdoor Nationals like they did last year.

Individually they also competed well with two state leading performances. The first of those was Syaira Richardson going 18-11.75 in the long jump to finish 2nd. The second was sophomore sensation Kori Carter blasting a 14.21 in the 100H to finish third in a stacked field.

Their dominance was then joined by former Team War anchor and VA state record holder Brandee' Johnson competing for the Florida Gators. She competed in the 100H and 400H producing ridiculously fast times. Her times of 13.14 and 57.21 rank 8th and 5th in the entire NCAA!

Also having note-worthy meets were Kara Lyles, Shakeela Saunders, and Zakiya Rashid who also are War alumni.
