Tara Davis Scorches Track In No. 2 All Conditions All-Time Mark In 100m Hurdles

Before Saturday, only three high school girls had broken 13 seconds in the l00m hurdles all-time.

Make that four now.

Agoura (Ca.) High senior Tara Davis added her name to that list, scorching the track at the CIF Southern Section Division 2 Prelims with a 12.89 second all conditions performance that tied her for the second best performance ever all-time.

Marietta Walton (Ga.) High's Tia Jones currently owns the national record of 12.84 seconds, which was set in 2000.

That Davis, a University of Georgia signee, accomplished it with a plus-2.6 wind means that won't hold up in the record books, but it does solidify that she's running at an all-time career best right now.

In March, Davis inched closer to breaking 13 seconds at the Arcadia Invitational, logging a wind-legal 13.01 second effort that still stands as US No. 1.

But Saturday's performance is just another indication that Davis is the most lethal female athlete out there right now.

Davis is also US No. 1 in the long jump and US No. 3 in the triple jump.
