Questions 1: What was your greatest moment while competing in high school? 

My greatest moment would have to be finally achieving All-State medals in all three seasons, Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor Track, placing 5th in XC, 3rd and 2nd in the 3200 as well as 2nd and 5th in the 4x800 to their respective seasons. It was a goal I had since I started the sport and to achieve it made me feel amazing!

Question 2: What is your biggest regret (related to T&F in high school) or what would you have done differently and why?

 I wish early on in my career that I had given a little more effort than I was giving, despite how good I was performing at times. I turned into a great runner through my junior and senior seasons, yes, but seeing how greatly I improved my sophomore year should have kick-started that ambition earlier.

Question 3: What will you miss the most about HS T&F/XC?

I'm going to miss the camaraderie of the sport. I've made countless friends not only through my team, but from other places as well. I could name all the people I've met, but then the list would be the majority of this article.

Question 4: What is some advice from incoming frosh and rising seniors on your high school team that you would like to share with them?

Freshmen: start to realize your potential. I never realized just how good I was at this sport, and you have to believe in yourself in order to achieve the goals you may not even be able to fathom right now. Seniors: do everything in your power to carry the team. Whether it be physical performance, leadership performance, whatever it may be, make it your goal to say "I'm going to do everything that my body allows me to do to help this team succeed."

Question 5: What was the hardest workout you did your entire high school career? Did you like it or did you dread it?

The hardest workout I ever did was 8x400 this spring. The reason being was I was extremely dehydrated (unknown to me) and our coach had asked for me to hit between 58-60 on our concrete track. Well, I only made it to 6, but I kept the times between 59-64, so that wasn't too bad.

Question 6: How did you make track/XC a very individual sport into more of a team sport?

This season, a few of my middle distance teammates were encouraging me to run a leg in the 4x800. Up until indoor this year, I'd only broken 2:10 once. I eventually became a strong 3rd leg for our team that eventually won 2 Conference 32 Championships, 1 Regional Championship, and State Runner-Up honors in Indoor, as well as becoming the 2nd fastest team in school history with a time of 8:09.85. As for me, I dropped from a 2:09 my first race in indoor to a 2:00 in a matter of months, and it was solely because I wanted to aid the team more than myself.

Question 7: Finally, what are your college plans? Will you be competing in college, where? What do you plan on studying? What do you have as career plans? 

Finally, I will be competing at the College of William & Mary this fall with plans to study Kinesiology to eventually become a physical therapist. Not only will I be achieving my dream to compete at a Division 1 level, but I hope to fulfill another dream to coach high school XC/Track & Field, to help other teenagers realize their dreams.
