DC & MD Sending Their Best To VA With Hopes of Glory at the Glory Days Grill Invite

Bull Run Regional Park will play host to a whopping 66 teams this weekend with over 3,000 athletes slated to compete. It is going to be a big and fast meet and we are super excited for it. The main reason we are excited for this meet is not just the size of the meet but more so because of the star power slated to compete here.

Virtual Meets: Boys - Girls

Starting things off for the Varsity races will be the boys hitting the course late in the afternoon. Highlighting this race will certainly be quite a few big names from MD, DC, and of course VA. The favorite on paper right now is Ryan Lockett of Poolesville High in MD. He enters with a season best of 15:39 just ahead of VA's best Max Greczyn of Bishop O'Connell. Both of these guys will have their hands full with other competitors close by.

Most of those close competitors will be from Maryland with Lake Braddock sitting their top group which means Lockett has a slight advantage knowing his competition very well. Expect some fast times on this Bull Run course and a close pack thru the first half of the race.

Team wise Severna Park, also from MD, looks to be the heavy favorites on paper.

In the second of the two big races this weekend we will see a stacked group of girls attempting to take home the Glory Days Grill title. This group is led by Annandale's Julia Ghiselli and 5A state champion Jodi Tolarchyk. They are then joined by Abigail Green (WJ - MD), Page Lester (National Cathedral - DC), Allison Fick (Colonial Forge) and Ellie Desmond of Broad Run.

All these ladies know a lot about speed and that should make for a fast race. If Tolarchyk is healthy then you can expect a speedy time from the Hickory senior but if she is still regaining her strength then you can bet Ghiselli will be the one pushing the pace.

Unfamiliar to most in VA and very much in contention also will be Green and Lester who both enter the meet from north of the Potomac. These ladies have some quick times on paper and know how to compete.

Team wise West Springfield looks to be the team to beat without Lake Braddock running their top runners. Regardless though if a team wants to win this meet they will have to bring the heat.
