It does without saying that Blacksburg and Loudoun Valley are state powerhouses. This weekend though they both propelled themselves to more national spotlight with their dominant wins at the Great American Cross Country Festival.

Loudoun Valley took home the win in the Boys' Race of Champions (ROC) with a scary low 62 points and Blacksburg took home the ROC trophy with a solid 115 points.
In the boys' race it was MD's Dalton Hengst taking the ultimate victory in a speedy 14:57 but quite a few VA guys were right behind. Finishing in the top 20 for Team VA were Peter Morris, Sam Affolder, Jacob Hunter, Colton Bogucki, and Yared Mekonnen.

On the girls' side it was NY's Kelsey Chmiel absolutely dominating the individual front with her 16:50 victory but behind her was a whole lot of VA girls. The first of which was Blacksburg's Kaitlynn Wolfe who took third in 17:31 and behind her also in the top 20 were Ryann Helmers, Emma Wolcott, Ailene Edwards, and Mary Caroline Heinen.
