Grayson Reid Just Posted VA's Best Finish (5th) at NCAA's!

ELSAH, IL. - CNU senior, Grayson Reid made the most of his final NCAA XC race and gutted his way to a All-American 5th place finish (24:20) in the NCAA DIII National Championships. This finish is the highest finish amongst all Virginia alumni and helped his team finish an impressive third place nationally.

Not only are Grayson's and Christopher Newport's performances impressive in themselves, they are also impressive displays of constant improvement both individually and at the University. CNU over the past decade has gone from competing well at a conference level to dominating at a conference level and competing well at the national level.

With a young group of guys and girls now competing for CNU both in XC and track it is going to be an exciting next few years. The biggest excitement though is seeing Virginia's talented athletes stay in Virginia and build a Virginia-fed powerhouse.

Since Reid's arrival at CNU there has been a constant recruiting pipeline from Richmond to CNU as more and more athletes see the progression Reid has had. This progression includes taking a 15:42 5K pr in high school to a 30:18 10K pr last year and a 24:01 8K this XC season.

Reid will likely stick to the longer distances indoors and look to improve on his 7th place finish indoors a year ago in the 5K.
