Wesley Smith won two AAA state outdoor titles while at Oscar Smith High School in 2007 and 2008 in the long jump. Smith (pictured left by Ted Plunkett), who currently competes in track & field at the University of Louisville, was also a Nike All-American and AAU age group national champion in the long jump with his high school best mark of 24'7".

At Louisville in his freshmen season this past year, Smith was an All-Big East performer and qualified for NCAA regional competition. Smith went over 23 feet in a dozen meets as a prep and ventured over 24 feet twice including his 24'7" win at the 2008 AAA State Outdoor Championships. Read more for interview with Wesley Smith...
