Flashback Friday: Burns Breaks GSW Record, US#2 A-T 300mH

ALBUQUERQUE, NM -- Thomas Burns (Fl.) crushed a new US No. 2 all-time mark in the 300m hurdles at the 2017 Great Southwest Track and Field Classic. Burns mark of 35.25 was not only US no. 2 all-time but is also a new junior class record.

Burns breaks the old junior class record time of 35.33 set by Robert Griffin III back in 2007. The mark also breaks the old meet record of 35.47 which was also held by Robert Griffin III.

Afterward,  Thomas broke down the race and admitted it wasn't even his best performance.

"Nah, actually, the second hurdle over there, I messed up my step," he said. "I had to launch to get to the next hurdle. I maintained my step, and got over the hurdle. I feel like I accomplished something and I came up here for a purpose. I came up here to take care of work."

As for who is the best in the family, Thomas or big brother Artie who starred at the University of Miami on the track and the football field and currently plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers? That's an easy answer according to the youngster.

"I'm the big brother now," he said with confidence.
