MileStat.com All-Decade Team Selection - Jaymes Brooks

Jaymes Brooks (pictured left by John Herzog) is now a projected starting offensive guard for the Virginia Tech football team in the upcoming 2009 season, but back in high school at least on MileStat.com, he was known as a great shot put and discus thrower at Denbigh High School in Newport News.

Brooks earned his first state title earlier in high school as he picked up the Group AAA state indoor shot put title as a sophomore in 2005. He nearly joined a small group of 60 footers in the shot put with his high school best performance of 59'5.50" at the 2007 Eastern Region Indoor Championships.

The discus was an event in which he did not start to really master until his senior year when he threw for a best of 172'8" and was a Group AAA state runner-up to teammate Terrence Riggins. Read more for interview with Jaymes Brooks...
