Former State Champ Antonio Lopez To Return To US

Former foreign exchange student, Antonio Lopez is returning to the United States to run cross country and track for Virginia Tech. He came to the US in 2016 and competed for Colgan high school throughout the 2016-7 school year.

He returned home last year and continued to run at a high level. His training though was clearly not as hard as it was in the US. That was also evident when he arrived at Dave Davis' XC conditioning. Coach David recalls him barely being able to finish an easy run.

The rest is history though as Antonio went from running 17:34 at Oatlands to 15:34 at The MileStat.com XC Invitational just 28 days later. He went on to win the 6A Outdoor 3200m State Title with a time of 9:15. He also won the emerging elite two mile race at NBNO in 9:21.

Today (Wednesday) he announced via twitter that he has verbally committed to attend and compete for VT.
