THE PLAINS, Va. - Meet management unfortunately has to cancel the 2018 Octoberfest Invitational. Meet management waited until Friday morning at 8am to visibly inspect the integrity of the course and parking lots before making this call.
Despite not having serious rain in the forecast, Great Meadow Park was hit with rain band after rain band. This led to the park getting around five inches of rain in the previous days. This has led to water covering the course and saturating the parking areas to an extent that could cause serious damage.
Meet management even attempted to shift the course in multiple spots as well as move the starting line to get the course on a more dry path but this morning it was clear that that would be impossible.
