Kira Barcus was the first 12 footer in the girls' pole vault in Virginia and her AAA Outdoor State Meet record of 12 feet stood for many years until recent years when several girls made an assault on the height. Barcus was a two-time outdoor state champion at Atlee High School as a 2002 graduate. She competed four years at Georgia Tech.
