Women's XC Has Best Finish Ever at Regional Championships

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The VMI women's cross country team posted its highest finish ever at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships. The Keydet women placed 21st on the day, finishing seven points ahead of Appalachian State, who finished 22nd.

“We did an okay job today,” said VMI head coach Paul Spangler. “Jenna Moye and Lindsey Carty both had solid performances, and we did beat Appalachian State, which is a solid, well-respected program.”

Hannah Granger, the Big South Runner of the Year, was the Keydets' top finisher with her 41st place effort. Granger completed the 6K distance in a time of 21:43, and was trailed by Moye, who was 59th with her 22:07 effort. Carty finished 139th with a 23:15 clocking, while Leah Schubel was VMI's #4 runner with her 23:26 effort. Schubel's 154th place effort was trailed immediately by Corinne Lariviere, who placed 155th in 23:28. Finally, Jenna Pickett was 209th, finishing the course in 24:48.

Duke captured the team championship, beating Virginia by nearly 50 points despite the Cavaliers' Katherine White winning the individual title.
VMI was the second-highest finishing Big South team, trailing only Liberty's 18th-place effort.
