Second Honor For Tribe Sophomore This Season

WILLIAMSBURG, VA -- William and Mary women's cross country star Julia Cathcart (Starkville, MS) has quickly been making a name for herself throughout the CAA as the Tribe sophomore has been honored as the CAA Co-Runner of the Week for the second time in as many races, the conference office announced today. Cathcart earned the award after a stellar performance this Saturday at the elite Paul Short Invitational, where the 2003 CAA Co-Rookie of the Year raced to an impressive fifth-place in the 6,000m college invitational race. Competing against five ranked teams in the previous FinishLynx poll, Cathcart clocked a strong 20:52.70 to place her among some of the top runners in the nation, helping the College finish fourth overall, ahead of No. 15 Georgetown and No. 27 Yale. Cathcart shared Runner of the Week honors with Towson\'s Meg Lerch.

It was Cathcart\'s second Runner of the Week honor of the season, and she has earned the award each time she has competed this year. Earlier, for the week of September 14, Cathcart shared the honor after winning in her season debut at the 2.89-mile Colonial Invitational, her only other race in the young season.

Cathcart and the Tribe are back in action this Friday, October 1, at the Notre Dame Invitational.
