Meghan Bishop Named CAA Co Runner of the Week

WILLIAMSBURG, VA - William and Mary women's cross country distance ace Meghan Bishop (Blue Bell, PA) has been named as the CAA Co-Runner of the Week, the conference office announced today. Bishop, the 2003 CAA Rookie of the Year, had a strong race last Friday at the competitive Notre Dame Invitational, racing to 30th against a field that featured nine of the top-30 ranked teams in the nation. The sophomore clocked a 17:30 in the 5,000m Blue Race, the same time as teammate Julia Cathcart (Starkville, MS) who just edged Bishop to the line to take 29th in the field of 195 runners. Bishop's finish helped the College claim sixth among the 24 teams, placing higher than then higher-ranked opponents UCLA and Butler. Bishop shared this week's award with Virginia Commonwealth's Elizeba Boit. Bishop and W&M return to action on October 16 with split squads at Penn State's National Invitational and the team's own Tribe Open in Williamsburg, VA.
