Sean Anastasia-Murphy Leads Team in Third Place

WILLIAMSBURG, VA - No. 22 William and Mary men's cross country competed this morning at its own Tribe Open, held on a modified 4.8 mile course at Eastern State Hospital. Junior Sean Anastasia-Murphy (Gloucester, MA) led three Tribe finishers in the top-five with his time of 24:22, ahead of redshirt freshman Anthony Arena (Manassas, VA) in fourth (24:27) and redshirt freshman Steve Hoogland (Springfield, VA) in fifth (24:33). Unattached competitor Walton Kingsberry won the race by clocking a 24:08, ahead of runner-up Christo Landry, who was also competing as an unattached runner. The meet, which included runners from Virginia, Georgetown, Hampton, Longwood, Elon, Penn State Altoona and the College of Charleston, did not feature team scoring.

The Green and Gold saw three more of its harriers earn top-10 finishes as senior Jon Healey (Wayne, NJ) claimed seventh place in 24:35, ahead of freshman Dave Mock (Johnstown, PA) in eighth and sophomore Dan Nally (Warrenton, VA) in 10th.

The Tribe currently has a contingent of competitors racing at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, IN. The Tribe has two weeks off before it aims for its fifth-straight conference title at the CAA Championship on October 30 in New Market, VA.
