LEWISBURG, Pa. - Matt Sagar ran the second-fastest steeplechase time in the Big South this year, leading a contingent of four distance runners at the Bison Outdoor Classic this weekend in Lewisburg, Pa.
Sagar put up a 9:15.20 to finish fourth overall in the event, and trail only Evans Kigen of Liberty in the conference. The time was also an IC4A qualifier for the senior, and it was the also the second-fastest steeplechase effort of his career.
Three other Keydets also took part in the steeplechase, as Ian McGinn, Matt Satterwhite and Ermin Mujezinovic competed. McGinn was the second-fastest Keydet, improving upon his season-best with a 9:35.90 clocking that moved him into fourth place in the conference standings. Satterwhite (9:41.00) and Mujezinovic (9:50.00) rounded out the efforts, as the updated Big South standings appear below.
VMI track and field will return to action Thursday, as the team takes part in day one of the Big South Championships in Charleston, S.C. Action will get underway at 10 a.m., with live video streaming available courtesy of the Big South Network and a live blog available from VMIKeydets.com.
