7:49 p.m. - I'm being told that my ride is leaving very quickly, so I'm putting up the team scores as best as I can for the women...They are unofficial. Once again, thank you for reading and please join us again tomorrow, when we complete our coverage of the 2010 BSC Championships!

7:40 p.m. - Bell lap for the women's 3K steeple, with Hailey Neal of LU and Brittany Christian of Radford neck-and-neck...Neal runs into another competitor not once, but twice (not intentional)...And she still wins with an 11:01.44 time. Crazy race.

7:34 p.m. - Pole vault results are in for the women...Kate Collins is hurt by misses this time around, after winning the indoor BSC Championship on them in February. This time, she misses third place because of misses, tying on marks with Carrie Long of Gardner-Webb (3.41 meters, 11'2 1/4"). Jennifer Sing was eighth with yet another PR, her third of this outdoor season, a 3.26 meter jump (that's 10'8 1/4"). Standings will be updated above in a moment...

Women's 3K steeple is currently on track, with no Keydets entered. Jenna Moye was to enter this race, but she is redshirting this outdoor season.

7:29 p.m. - Satterwhite officially second (9:22.37), Sagar third (9:22.71) and McGinn seventh (9:37.29)...16 points for the Keydets. We'll wait on the updated standings before we try to update them up top....Meanwhile, note that we have updated pictures on the photo gallery.

7:27 p.m. - Satterwhite in 9:22 to take second, Sagar on his heels for third...It looked like Ian McGinn was eighth with a lean right at the line. That would give the Keydets 15 points, which may or may not be enough. We'll see.

7:26 p.m. - At the bell, it's Kigen easily...High Point runner closing on the two VMI runners for fourth...McGinn moves to seventh...Mujezinovic is fading and is out of it.

7:24 p.m. - With 800-meters left, it's Kigen, Sagar and Satterwhite...

7:22 p.m. - After 1,400, Evans Kigen of LU gets a few strides on Sagar, who sits second...Satterwhite goes to third, with Mujezinovic fifth...McGinn ninth...

Now three laps to go...5:40 is the split for Sagar...

7:21 p.m. - With five laps to go, the pack remains bunched...Looked like Sagar made a move for third place as they came by the line last time...

7:19 p.m. - It looks like the Keydet strategy may be to run in a pack here, as all four VMI runners are centered about seventh place as they come to the water jump for the first time...Everybody through, although McGinn had a close call...

7:18 p.m. - Underway in the steeplechase...McGinn, Satterwhite, Sagar and McGinn...

7:02 p.m. - Official results from the 200...Javon Young takes the top time (20.98) with his teammate, Levi Brooks, at 21.18. Alexander is #6 at 21.51.

Up next is the key event of this meet from a VMI perspective, the 3K steeplechase. That's scheduled for a 7:15 start.

6:56 p.m. - Dennis James was one of four athletes to clear 2.01 meters (6'7") in the high jump earlier today, but tied for fourth on misses. As I mentioned a moment ago, team scores are updated above..Waiting on the 200-meter results now.

6:54 p.m. - Williams fourth in her heat, and will probably not move on.

6:51 p.m. - After a fun hour over at the pole vault, I'm back with you here in the press box. As you saw on our Twitter, James Alexander was second in his heat of the 200 and will make tomorrow's final. The pole vault will see it come down to misses for third, as Kate Collins of VMI and Carrie Long of GWU both went out with a final clearance of 3.41 (which I believe is a VMI school record) meters.

Men's team scores have been updated through the high jump, which saw Dennis James score points. I'll post an update on that after this prelim heat of the women's 200, which features Chandale Williams.

5:38 p.m. - The women's pole vault continues, and that's what I'm going to try to go cover. Please switch to the twitter feed at this time...The next time a Keydet is on the track is at 6 p.m. for the men's 400-meter hurdles, followed by the women's hurdles 15 minutes later.

Gonsalves is not in the finals of the 800.

Switching to Twitter now...

5:37 p.m. - Men's high jump is done...Results when possible...

Here's how heat three broke down in the men's 800:

Kitur starts out with a vintage Kitur race, using his long stride to get out in front by about the 300-meter mark...looks to be on cruise control after one lap...Classic Kitur to win in 1:49.71, very, very smooth and never threatened. He shakes Jason Thorpe's hand after the race...Thorpe with a 1:57.81, he will not advance...Gonsalves may be close.

5:30 p.m. - It looks like the high jump is down to Jaques Watson of Coastal Carolina...Heat two completed...Not looking good for Gonsalves...Heat three about to go.

5:27 p.m. - Here's how heat one broke down...

Bunched group in heat one with one lap to go...Gonsalves fifth and may be in trouble...Wendland of Liberty making a move to pass Josh Morgan of High Point...Gonsalves trying a kick around the final turn....Looked like about 1:55 even for Gonsalves to finish fourth. We'll have to wait for the other heats to see if he gets in on time.

EDIT: Gonsalves' time a 1:55.83.

5:23 p.m. - Warmups are underway for the 800...Kitur looks comfortable, slowly jogging across the middle of the field, just underneath the Big South logo. Coach Spangler approaches him...The two slap hands and huddle for one final strategy session. Again, Kitur is in heat three with Gonsalves in heat one. Don't sleep on Dean here...He could be a real threat, if not to win, then to go aways up the finishing order...But first, everyone's got to make the finals. Heat one should start in five minutes.

5:14 p.m. - Dennis James about to try to clear 2.06 meters in the high jump...And he just brushes the bar with his left ankle as he tries to pull his lower body over. The bar falls, and it goes in the books as a miss.

In about 10 minutes, trials for the men's 800, featuring Kitur, Gonsalves and Thorpe will get underway. The current blog-related plan is to stay up top, blog that, and then switch to Twitter (@VMISID) and go across track to cover the women's pole vault (which is currently underway).

5:00 p.m. - Alexander officially out of the 100...A 10.74 was the slowest time to make it (Alexander's PR is 10.71). I've never seen a prelim that fast.

4:58 p.m. - Men's high jump well underway...Dennis James just cleared at 2.01 meters (6'7").

4:54 p.m. - Our next event is the women's 100...No Keydets.

4:52 p.m. - Alexander with a 10.82 time...Not bad, but I don't think he made finals. He would have almost needed a PR to make it...Official word when we get it. Paul Carmany tells me that all three Liberty competitors in that race posted personal bests, but only two made the finals. Incredibly fast prelims.

4:50 p.m. - Young goes 10.29 in the prelims (his seed mark was 10.17)...Another CSU sprinter wins heat two, Lewis with an 11.27...Gant appeared to pull up and finishes in over 13 seconds...Alexander now up...

4:41 p.m. - Women's team scores updated through the shot put. Men's 100 about to start...Nationally ranked Javon Young of CSU is in the opening heat, while James Alexander is in the third and final heat. Nate Gant and Austin Lewis are in heat two.

4:34 p.m. - Final decathlon standings posted...Next event is the men's 100-meter trials.

4:27 p.m. - According to the small scoring board, Riggins of CSU holds on to win the decathlon by 46 points over Brusich. The Keydets go fifth (Munson, 6136) and sixth (Wood, 6097). I'm going to go ahead and try to update the team scores above, but be warned, I'm doing it by hand :-).

Reminder - The men's high jump, including Antonio Wood and Dennis James, is about to get underway. Coastal Carolina's Jaques Watson, tied for #2 in the nation, is the prohibitive favorite.

4:21 p.m. - Drew Edwards of Liberty is going to win the dec's 1,500-meter run...Brusich, Riggins and Woodbridge go second, third and fifth...Wood seventh in 4:52.73...Munson fades to eighth down the stretch...This will be very close all the way through. The Keydets need all the points they can get here. Edwards will vault up, but the question is who else will?

Wood will now turn around and go first in the open high jump (assuming he does not pass), which will start in a moment.

4:18 p.m. - Underway in the 1,500-meter portion of the decathlon...Brusich of Gardner-Webb well out in front...Wood and Munson are part of a group of six toward the back, just trying to get the best time possible.

4:15 p.m. - Williams' 56.93 time is the sixth-best of prelims, and as I said, she takes one of the automatic berths in tomorrow's finals.

4:10 p.m. - Jamie Watson of Liberty wins heat one easily, in front of Chandale's second-place effort. Unofficially, Williams clocks in at a school record 56.93 seconds to take second and move on to tomorrow's finals. I do have a video of the majority of her race, but my camera battery appears to have died with about 10 meters to go. I'll see if I can get it off somehow.

4:06 p.m. - Women's 400 prelims are about to start...Chandale Williams of VMI is in heat one, lane 3.

4:02 p.m. - Standings are updated above for the women through the high jump, which we just got results from. Allicock of Coastal Carolina wins with a 1.66 meter (5'5 1/4") jump.

3:55 p.m. - Men's 400 now underway...Keydets not entering anyone here.

3:48 p.m. - As you can see above, we have updated decathlon standings...Munson had a solid javelin throw of 44.65 meters (146'6") while Wood was at 39.80 meters (130'7"), but Woodbridge of Liberty vaulted them both with a 57.04 M throw. The top four participants are separated by just 101 points, with the top five differentiated by just 199 markers. This is unusually close. Munson is an average 1,500-meter runner, and to be honest, I have no idea what Wood's got for 'em in this event. Woodbridge is solid, but not spectacular...The best 1,500-meter runner in this field is Drew Edwards of Liberty in sixth. Edwards trails Wood by 76 points.

3:42 p.m. - One schedule note - The decathlon's 1,500-meters will go off around 4:20, after the completion of the 400-meter trials.

3:32 p.m. - Neither one of the Keydets made the 110-hurdle finals...Final times were Munson at 15.66 (10th) and Schmalhofer at 16.23 (12th).

3:25 p.m. - If you're just tuning in, the highlights of today have been Zipporah McCann wrapping up the heptathlon with an eighth-place finish and Cody Davis earning VMI's first all-conference honor of the meet with a second place finish in the shot put. We've pretty much given up on live results here in the press box, but I'm going to leave the link up for today JUST in case.

Finally, the decathlon will end at 3:55 with the 1,500-meter run. We're still waiting on javelin results to see where Munson and Wood rank entering the final event.

3:21 p.m. - Women's 100-meter hurdles about to start...I believe I said 110-meter hurdles earlier for the women's version of this event. Of course, it's 100 meters long. The Keydets don't have an entrant here though.

3:20 p.m. - Kerry Sims of Winthrop takes heat two...Waiting for final times.

3:16 p.m. - Jack Hutchinson of CCU wins heat one...We're going to have to wait on times because there appeared to be an error as we saw the results flash by. Munson jogs back across the track to the javelin.

3:12 p.m. - 110-meter hurdles about to start...Michael Munson is entered in this as well, so either he's already done with the javelin or he'll finish and run back over. Nine total will advance, the top three from each heat and the next three best times. Munson and Taylor Schmalhofer are in heat one.

2:55 p.m. - It's official...Thorpe is in with his 4:01.27. Mujezinovic had a 3:59:45 and Gonsalves was 4:01.79. As you can see below, there's been a short video posted of part of Ermin and Jason's heat.

2:52 p.m. - It looks like all three Keydets are (unofficially) in to Saturday's finals of the 1,500, which will be contested at 12:20 p.m.

2:43 p.m. - We have major news out of the decathlon. In honor of his parents' birthday, Michael Munson tied for the second-highest mark in the pole vault (3.81 M/12'6") and moved up to third. Antonio Wood remains fourth after his PR of 11'2 1/4" (3.41 meters), but the big news is at the top, where heavy favorite Geren Woodbridge of Liberty did not record a height and dropped to sixth. Full standings will be updated above in just a moment.

2:39 p.m. - Officially, Thorpe had a 4:01.27, but we don't have any idea of the times from the first heat. Yes, there are problems.

2:37 p.m. - Here was the call of heat two (see a brief video here) -

Entire pack right together as they come by the first time. Mujezinovic running fourth with Thorpe seventh...

Mujezinovic moves up to second with Thorpe sixth, two to go...

Too close to call on the finish, but Mujezinovic looked to be fourth with Thorpe sixth. Ermin would move on, with Thorpe being in good position to take one of the two time qualifier spots.

2:31 p.m. - Here's how I called the first heat of the 1,500-meters -

As they come by us the first time, the pack is bunched together. Gonsalves running fourth...

The thing about Gonsalves is that he run very smoothly, very straight up and down and in control of himself...He remains fourth as they come by the second time.

Five runners get separation with two to go, Gonsalves kicks it into high gear a bit, but so do the other four.

Battle for fourth between Gonsalves and a runner from Coastal with one to go...

Gonsalves will finish fifth in his heat...Looked like almost exactly 4:00. Heat won by Eliot Chirchir of Asheville...Top five go to the finals, so Dean is in.

2:25 p.m. - We are going to have heats in the men's 1,500-meter run in just a few moments. Dean Gonsalves will be in heat one, with Mujezinovic and Thorpe in heat two.

2:23 p.m. - Decathlon pole vault just wrapped up...Javelin, the second-to-last event, will start at 2:55.

2:03 p.m. - FINALLY, there are some shot put results on the board. Ryan Smith of Liberty won with a 17.01 toss (55'10 1/4), with Davis second as previously mentioned (15.94/52'3 3/4"). James Handler was 13th with a toss of 43'10". LU went first and eighth, with VMI second. Winthrop was third and Radford went fourth and seventh. CCU was fifth and sixth...Teams scored above will reflect this momentarily.

1:54 p.m. - A quick trip down to field level turns up some interesting details...

Cody Davis was second in the shot put with a 15.94 meter throw (we learned this in spite of another scoring delay, so we don't have full results yet). That is VMI's highest finisher so far.

Antonio Wood had what is believed to be an 11'6" pole vault to post a PR...Michael Munson was still jumping, but he took time to come over and remind me of something I forgot. He wanted to send a happy birthday wish out to his parents, Michael and Joann...So happy birthday to them!

The women's high jump is about to get underway, but the Keydets don't have an entrant. Also on the horizon is that pesky men's 1,500-meter prelim, which is still on as of now. I saw the Keydet trio warming up when I was on the field.

1:33 p.m. - Here's an update on the schedule...Right now, meet administrators are checking to see if they can scratch the prelims of the men's 1,500, which is scheduled for 2:30. That, one would think, could favor VMI because each of its representatives (Thorpe, Mujezinovic, Gonsalves) would move on to the finals Saturday, while Ermin M. could get a little extra rest before the steeple tonight.

1:26 p.m. - We finally got those pictures up on the photo album, so check those out...

Thanks to Sean Thompson '08 for the email...The shot has wrapped up, but with the way the facility is laid out, we're completely obscured from seeing the performance board...So we can't really tell much about what happened. Hopefully we'll get results soon, but if we don't, I'll probably venture out and try to find Coach Zack Scott to get the marks.

1:24 p.m. - Men's shot put has concluded...As you might be able to tell, results getting up here is a bit...Tricky?

1:03 p.m. - McCann finishes eighth overall, just 40 points back of sixth. Keydets notch their second point of the meet...Really a strong performance by Zipporah over the two days, and PR's in the long jump, shot put and hurdles certainly helped. Her two weakest events just happen to be at the end of the competition. We'll get those final scores in just a moment.

Decathlon pole vault continues, as does the men's shot put...Both are obscured though. We'll post what we can regarding those events.

1:02 p.m. - Official time for McCann was 2:55.01...We'll see if that's enough to hang on to sixth.

12:56 p.m. - 800 is underway to close out the heptathlon...McCann trails the field after one lap...She finishes strong in what appears to be 2:53. Final results should be coming shortly.

12:35 p.m. - Updated heptathlon scores listed above...McCann falls to sixth after her weakest event, the javelin throw (18.33, 60'2"). The 800-meters is the only event left, and it starts at 12:55.

12:17 p.m. - We have a few updated scores...First, the heptathlon long jump results are in. McCann of VMI PR'd by a wide margin, jumping 5.51 meters (18'1") to finish just 1/2 of an inch behind Krystal Matthews of Liberty.

In the decathlon discus, Munson and Wood finished close to their respective PR's, but Woodbridge was just too much. This is where he kicks it into high gear, but Munson and Wood remain in the top five, as you can see above. We also have a few photos from the discus, which will be posted in a few minutes. Also, we still have no live results. Not at all sure what's going on with the timer (very unlike CFPI), but I want to clarify that this is not CSU's fault. Blake Freeland and staff have done a great job working this meet, and this issue is not on them.

Finally, the men's shot put is underway. If Cody Davis' mom is watching (note the shout out in the 10:40 a.m. blog post), he is in flight two with James Handler.

11:44 a.m. - We have updated scores from the heptathlon, although we don't have distances in the long jump. Former leader Patria Norman of CSU drops to sixth after fouling on all three of her attempts, and Zipporah McCann is one of those to jump over her. See updated scores above.

With no events on track for a couple of hours, I'm going to go exploring and see what pics (and possibly video) I can get. As was the case yesterday, any updates will be posted on our Twitter feed (@VMISID).

11:32 a.m. - I just put the pictures up from Wood and Munson's efforts in the hurdles...Note the photo album link above, which, as it was yesterday, will be updated throughout the day. Time to investigate the lunch situation!

11:12 a.m. - As you can see above, we have updated decathlon standings. Still no times though...Brusich won Wood and Munson's heat, but this is his best event. We'll see if he can keep it up. Riggins is also strong in the sprints and running events...Woodbridge is still the heavy favorite here because of his pole vault experience.

Just got times as I write this - Munson actually edged Wood, my apologies. Munson was fourth overall with a 15.87 time, Wood was sixth in 16.90. We're running right to left today, so that makes it a different angle and my eyes got the best of me. Apologies for the error. Richard Garcia has dropped out of the event.

11:03 a.m. - We're underway...Wood was third in the first heat, Munson second. No times posted on the board yet. Second heat features overall leader Woodbridge of Liberty. CSU's Riggins wins heat two, with Woodbridge looking strong in second. We'll get those times for you as soon as we can.

This discus is the next decathlon event, and it's set to get underway at about 11:40 a.m.

10:40 a.m. - First off, we have an updated score from the decathlon shot put yesterday. Antonio Wood's shot put was marked wrong, so he's going to be closer to the leaders...I've got the sheet in my hand...

Wood moves into second place with 3,484 points, just six points behind the leader (Geren Woodbridge of Liberty), thanks to his revising 11.07 M mark in the shot. Wow, what a great first day. We'll post updated scores after the 110-meter hurdles, but everything else remained the same.

Now, let's take a look at today's marquee events...

Men's shot put - Cody Davis is seeded third and is an all-conference contender. I rode over in the van with him, and after a javelin almost hit me in the leg (cramped trip!), he requested a shout out to his mom...So Cheryl Davis, there you go. Your son says hello, and his event will go off at noon.

Men's 100-meter trials - James "Trae" Alexander is seeded third, but is up against CSU's Javon Young, one of the top sprinters in the country. It's the stiffest possible test in a jam-packed field, and this race goes off at 4:45. Hopefully the book he bought last night at "Books A-Million" after dinner helps him. :-)

Men's 200-meter trials - Same situation as the 100, but this race will start at 6:35.

Women's pole vault - Again, a crowded field...The Keydets' Kate Collins won the indoor championship, but her high school rival, Shelley Parker of Liberty, has the top mark in the conference coming in (3.55 M). This will probably be one that I'll try to cover on Twitter, although I'm hoping to find an athlete who's not competing and can give me updates from across the field. The pole vault is underway at 5 p.m.

Men's 3,000-meter steeplechase - This is it, the biggest race of the meet, and the one that could (emphasis on could) determine the Keydets' placing. VMI has four people who could score, and boasts three of the top five times so far this outdoor season.

The remainder of the multis - This is very interesting...The Keydets are usually strong in the decathlon, but not this strong. Can Antonio Wood, whose best events are usually on day one, have a strong day and throw a scare into heavily favored Geren Woodbridge of Liberty? Can Michael Munson show well and give the Keydets two of the top three? What can Zipporah McCann do to close out her heptathlon run, which may be the best of her career? She'll open with her best event, the long jump, in about 20 minutes.

10:09 a.m. - We're now situated back in our seats above Bagwell-Settle Track...It feels much warmer than yesterday. I'm sweating already, whereas yesterday at this time, it was relatively cool and comfortable. Make sure to hydrate if you're in the area and coming out today!!

As you can see above, we've got the links ready to go...Paul Carmany of Liberty, who is alongside me once again, tells me that CFPI did get a live results working late last night. Hopefully it will work, because this hasn't been the timing company's "One Shining Moment" thus far.

Our first event today is the decathlon 110-meter hurdles, to take place alongside the heptathlon long jump. I'll be focusing on the hurdles, since that's right in front of me. In the meantime, we have a rousing debate going in the press box regarding which flavor of Mountain Dew is best, and what the new flavor should be in the apparent vote that's going on now. One person says Code Red, while another enjoyed the Baja Blast...Only at track and field.
