William & Mary Men Races to Runner-Up Honors at IC4A Championship

Anastasia-Murphy Leads Four All-East Performers

NEW YORK, NY - Junior Sean Anastasia-Murphy (Gloucester, MA) raced to fifth place overall, leading four Tribe runners earning All-East honors, as 2004 William and Mary CAA Champion men's cross country claimed runner-up honors at today's IC4A Championship. La Salle won the Championship with 56 points, ahead of the second-place Tribe (87) and third-place Duquesne (109). The College's finish in the 20-team meet is all the more impressive considering its top eight runners did not compete, as they will contest the squad's eighth-straight NCAA Championship this Monday, November 22. The 5-mile race, held on the Van Cortland Park course, was won by Penn State's Chris Foster in 24:55. The top-25 finishers were awarded All-East honors.

Anastasia-Murphy led the team with an impressive fifth-place showing, clocking a 25:06 for his second career All-East honors at the IC4A meet (after also winning the designation in his freshman season). Freshman Dave Mock (Johnstown, PA) netted All-East honors in his first IC4A Championship, running a 25:27 to finish 17th, just ahead of sophomore David Murphy (Warwick, RI) who paced a 25:28 for 18th and All-East accolades. Senior Charlie Hurt (Charlottesville, VA) rounded out the Tribe's All-East honorees by racing to 23rd in 25:36 while fellow senior Adam Otstot (Richmond, VA) completed the team's scoring five in 28th at 25:43. Redshirt freshman Anthony Arena (Manasass, VA) turned in a solid showing by claiming 32nd in 25:47.

The Tribe will next contest its eighth-consecutive NCAA Championship this Monday, November 22, in Terre Haute, IN.
