Virginia Tech Men\'s Track & Field Takes Over Sole Possession of No. 22

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Virginia Tech\'s men\'s track & field team ranks No. 22nd in the NCAA division I this week\'s Men\'s Trackwire 25 poll that was released by Trackwire.com.

Arkansas and Indiana are still No. 1 and No. 2. Michigan and Florida are tied for third place while Wisconsin rounds out the top five men\'s teams in the Trackwire poll. Florida State, the only other ACC school to be ranked is tied for the No. 9 spot with Nebraska. UCLA and George Mason close out the top 25 tied for 24th this week.

The Hokies entered the men\'s poll on Jan. 18 tied with Missouri, Purdue and Georgia for the 23rd spot. Tech then dropped to No. 25 in the Jan. 25 and Feb. 1 polls but improved to No. 22 along with Kansas State and Nebraska last week.

Stanford sustains their lead while four ACC teams made this week\'s Trackwire 25 for Women poll. Miami is the highest ranking women\'s ACC team at No. 3.

The Trackwire 25 poll has established itself as the most widely respected and reported ranking of Division I collegiate track & field teams.

In the Trackshark rankings released on Feb. 1, Tech\'s men\'s team ranks 21 out of 239 NCAA division I teams.

This weekend, Virginia Tech takes on all 10 ACC teams in it\'s first-ever Atlantic Coast Conference indoor championships, which will be held at the Eddie Smith Field House in Chapel Hill, N.C.
