McNaney, McDougal, McChampions

Boston, MA -- Liberty's Danielle McNaney earned her second ECAC championship in the pentathlon, while Josh McDougal claimed his first IC4A title in the 3000-meter run at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center this past weekend during the IC4A/ECAC Championships.

McNaney (Sr., Gardner, Kan.) collected 3,822 points to establish a new school and Big South Conference record. Kena Butts (Jr., Voorhees, N.J.) placed fourth in the high jump with a height of 5' 8 ¾", while Charlene Hibbert (Fr., Mississauga, Ontario) picked-up a seventh-place finish in the long jump, jumping 18' 5 ¾".

On the men's side, McDougal (Fr., Peru, N.Y.) ran a NCAA automatic qualifying time of 7:55.70 in the 3000-meters to earn his first title. Another outstanding freshman, Brandon Hoskins (Fr., Garden City, Texas), had a strong showing as he placed second in the heptathlon with a NCAA provisional mark of 5278. Dan Royal (Sr., Ft. Myers, Fla.) had a good day as he finished sixth in the weight throw and seventh in the shot put with throws of 60' 11 ½" and 53' 7 ½".

Liberty's men's 4x400 team of Ravanno Ferguson (Jr., Freeport Bahamas), Josh Gilreath (Fr., Reidsville, N.C.), Travis Campbell (Jr., Candler, N.C.) and Alonzia Phillips (Fr., Vero Beach, Fla.) placed fourth with a time of 3:14.18. Ferguson picked-up a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.42, while Phillips placed ninth in the 200-meter dash, running 21.93, to round out Liberty's Top 10 finishers.
