Granger Named Big South XC Runner of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – VMI's Hannah Granger has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, according to information released by the conference Wednesday.

Granger won the Big South Preview this past weekend, completing the 5K distance in a time of 18:57, three seconds ahead of teammate Tammy Cheung. The defending Big South Conference champion averaged 6:06 per mile en route to the win, as she took the lead in the opening mile and was never seriously challenged the rest of the way. Granger led the Keydets to a dominating performance, as VMI placed six women in the race's top nine finishers and fell just four points shy of a perfect score.

VMI cross country will return to action Friday, as the Keydets travel to Charlotte, N.C. to take part in the Charlotte Invitational.
