Highlights from the Real Deal Classic:

 

  • Heritage girls went 1-2 in the finals of the 55 meter dash with Jenira Shufford (1st, 7.20) and Asonya Anderson (2nd, 7.22). Shufford is the current state leader from her 7.14 performance at the Peninsula Ice Breaker, while Anderson is returning back to action after a long break due to being ineligible last spring semester.
  • Hampton sophomore Chantel Ray dropped her state leading down to 8.04 in the 55 meter hurdles, which is one of the faster times in state history posted in the event prior to the winter break.
  • Woodrow Wilson's Kenneth Williams exhibited his great range after running a 1:55 800 last spring to this weekend clocking a state leading 6.45 time in the 55 meter dash prelims.
  • Hampton boys had two event winners in the sprints between Arik Hogan in the 300 (36.22) and Darius Green in the 500 (1:08.22).
  • Carolyn Brown and the Phoebus girls rolled at Boo Williams with a 40.82 win from Brown in the 300, while their 4x200 (1:47.91) and 4x400 (4:09.81) won both relay races.
  • J.R. Tucker's Claire Tito competed in her first indoor meet since last year's Real Deal Classic, which she won the 500 once again in her indoor return with a 1:18.51 performance.
  • Western Branch boys ran the fastest time indoors (not in an outdoor polar bear meet) in the 4x200 meter relay so far in Virginia this season at 1:33.13.
