In the inaugural meet at the brand new Roanoke College, the 1A/2A athletes truly stepped up to another level. Taking home the ultimate honors were Maggie Walker's girls team and Auburn's boys team. Wilson Memorial finished as the runners-up in the girls' competition with Prince Edward taking those honors in the boys'.
In a soon to be jam-packed Roanoke College track, the 3A and 4A State Championships will get under way. A total of sixty state titles and eight team trophies will be up for grabs over the fifteen events and two days of this competition beginning Friday morning.

Eight team trophies and 60 state titles are all at stake this weekend at Boo Williams' Sportsplex in Hampton. It is finally that time again where the best athletes in the state will run, jump, vault, and throw for state titles and team trophies in the annual 5A and 6A State meets.

This year we are in for a show at the first VHSL State Championships of the season. On the campus of Roanoke College in Salem we are going to see some of the best athletes in the state toe the line for the 1A/2A combined state indoor championships. This meet will mark the first high school meet to ever take place on this track and just the second time high school kids have been allowed on it.

For the first time in our state's history, our state championships will be live streamed on FloTrack! This means you can use your universal subscription to view every single race live from both the 5A and 6A State Championships this weekend in Hampton.
It was a complete sweep for the home teams this year as both Saint Christopher's and Saint Catherine's walked away with the VISAA State Team Titles this weekend. St. Chris snuck away with the win late by just 10 points over FUMA while St. Catherine's sealed the deal an hour in and never looked back with a 112.5 point margin of victory.
The Captains of Christopher Newport University not only defended their home track this weekend, they absolutely dominated it. The Boys' team scored a monstrous 266 points and the Girls' team scored 179 points to sweep the Capital Athletic Conference team titles.

Indoor season is exciting but short. We are just three weeks away from indoor nationals and the official end of the indoor season. We are getting ahead of the storm though and want to hear your opinion for who deserves athlete of the year honors right now!

The awesome thing about the post-season is finally getting to see athletes show their true potential. It is common practice today to save athletes until the post-season and to solely focus on training after just one meet where the athlete hits the auto-standard. That combined with coaches hiding their athletes from the spotlight makes for a big coming out party each year at the State Championships.

The 2009 national record setting quartet from Charlottesville and Albemarle high school just received word that they will be inducted this April onto the Penn Relays Wall of Fame. This group of guys will be the 21st high school relay team to achieve this honor since 1900.

This year though some serious history is on the line with Western Branch favored in five of the six relays for the 6A State Championships. The only one they are not favored in is the girls 4x800 where they are seeded at third.

Up in NYC this past weekend quite a few current and former VA stars took to the Armory track for the Millrose Games. This included four high schoolers from VA who competed in the 1K and Mile races.
