Top performances from the Green Dragon Relays on Saturday at the Arthur Ashe Center in Richmond came from the field events. Manchester junior Christian Rodgers has the state's second best mark currently in the triple jump at 45'9" from CNU and nearly matched the same distance at the Ashe Center with a 45'8.50" performance. Returning indoor All-American Nick Simmons of J.R. Tucker cleared a height of 6'6" in the high jump, while defending Group A state outdoor high jump champion Jasmine Mitchell of Amelia County won the girls' high jump at 5'3". Simmons also dipped under 8 seconds to win the 55 meter hurdles in 7.95. Highland Springs senior Asia Smith had a nice series of throws in the shot put with five of her six marks legal over 35 with a best of 37'8.50". Region I athletes swept the long jump with Caroline's Jessica Toliver (16'7.75") and Lafayette's Christian Kinney (20'6.25").
