Colonial Relays

April 5,6,7, 2012


The 47th Annual Colonial Relays will welcome fifty (50) invited college teams. All college events are scored (10-8-6-4-3-2-1) to determine a team champion for men and women. We will also host a limited field of high school exhibition races. High school entries are based on past results; coaches must email meet director with past results for entry consideration prior to entry deadline.

Entries will be limited for unattached athletes and those athletes must email the meet director in advance for approval (stwalsh@wm.edu). There are no guaranteed entries for unattached athletes.

Entry Procedure - DirectAthletics.com is handling all meet entries.

Deadline for College Entries will be Wednesday March 28th at 11:59 p.m.

Deadline for High School Entries will be Wednesday March 14th at 11:59 p.m.

Entry Limit - College: Three (3) per event in races run in lanes through 800. Four (4) in 1500-10,000 and three (3) in all field events. Accepted list will be posted by April 3rd.

High Schools: All High School events are exhibition events this year. We are trying to bring back the High School section of the Colonial Relays. Entries made are not a guarantee that you will be accepted. We are limited in the time schedule, so only the top entries will be accepted. Accepted list will be posted by March 26th.
The entries will be based on descending order performance list.
Entry Fee - College: $450 per men's team/$450 per women's team or $25 per individual entry if under fourteen (14) entries per gender.

High School: $15 per individual entries, $25 per relay
Our Athletic Department Business Office will be sending you a bill for your entry fee for the meet. Checks should be made payable to College of William & Mary Athletics - on memo line write Colonial Relays.



Field Events:

In all throwing and jumping events there will be a championship section and unseeded section. The top fourteen (14) entries will be invited into championship sections. All decisions are made by meet director and all marks will be verified by TFRRS.
It is the athlete's and coach's responsibility to know which section they are competing in. If you miss your section, you miss your event!

In the long jump and triple jump, the championship sections will get three (3) jumps and the top 8 will advance to final for three (3) additional jumps. In the unseeded section all jumpers will only get three (3) jumps. The championship and unseeded sections will be run on same runways.
All throwing events (hammer, shot put, javelin, and discus) will be contested at Stimson Throwing Event Area located off of Dillard Street. The championships sections will get three (3) throws and top eight (8) will advance to the final for three (3) additional throws. In the unseeded section all throwers will only get three (3) throws.


Declarations - Running Events: Made at meet and should declare at Clerking Area: 1 hour before event

Field Events: Made at the event: no later than 45 minutes before event begins

Scratches - Please forward scratches to Stephen Walsh (stwalsh@wm.edu) by Thursday April 5th @ 10:00am.

Awards - Winners of championship relays will receive plaques, and the team championship winner will also receive a plaque.

This year parking for the Relays will be closely monitored by the police. All buses and vans must be parked in the lot adjacent to William and Mary Hall. Any vehicles not parked in the designated areas will be ticketed and/or towed by the police. Buses and vans may drop off athletes and coaches at the stadium/track where you will pick up a packet outside the main gate. In the packet will be final information for athletes and coaches.
We are looking forward to having your team with us in Williamsburg. We encourage you to make housing arrangements immediately due to the tourist season.
Please be aware that we will be adjusting the time schedule prior to the meet to fit the number of sections. Make sure you have the most current schedule.
