Blue Demon Course Map



22nd Annual Blue Demon Invitational



When: Saturday, September 1, 2012


Where: Christiansburg Primary/Elementary School Grounds



Time Schedule:
8 - 9:30 Packet Pick-up
8:00 Wide Open Race - 3.1 Miles - NO COST
8:30 5th, 6th, 7th Grade Race - 1 Mile - NO COST
9:00 Varsity Girls
9:45 Varsity Boys
10:30 JV Girls
11:15 JV Boys
AWARDS Will follow last race ASAP (near picnic shelter)



Course: Most of the course is very hilly and demanding. 90% of the course is on grass, but there is some asphalt the runners will be running on. Please remind your runners to wear appropriate shoes. The course will be mowed and marked clearly with little yellow flags on both sides of the running area. There will be painted arrows on every turn so no one gets confused. There will also be road monitors to stop traffic if necessary. I will be sending a copy of the course map with this packet. The course is an official 3.1 mile race.

Restrooms: Will be located inside the Christiansburg Primary School on top of the hill. Teams should come dressed and ready to run. There will be no showers or locker rooms available. There will also be two porta-johns available for use.


Entries: Up to 7 in each varsity race. Unlimited entries in the JV races. 8th graders must run the JV race. 5th, 6th, and 7th graders will not be allowed in the JV race. They must run the one miler at 8:30. You may e-mail me your entries at sguynn@mcps.org


Entry Fee: $7.00 for each JV and Varsity runner you enter or $65.00 per team. (Girls are one team and boys are another team). There will be no cost for 5th, 6th, and 7th graders.

Awards: Varsity - Top 3 Teams will receive a trophy
Each Top 7 runner will receive a medal so that each member of the team can take a piece of the trophy home with them.

JV - Top 3 teams will receive a trophy
Top 10 in each race will receive a medal

*** Top 7 times of the day (JV and Varsity combined) receive an "All Meet Team" T-shirt

5th, 6th, 7th Graders - Top 3 boys and girls receive a medal

Everyone else receives a ribbon



Shirts/Concessions: T-shirts will be sold for $15.00. Lots of food and drinks will be on sale (Gatorade, Water, Pizza, Hot dogs, Fruit, etc.)

Scoring: Computerized. Copies will be made available after the awards ceremony.

Official Entry Form for the 5th, 6th, and 7th Grade Race

Saturday, September 1, 2012



Race: The 5th, 6th, 7th grade race will be held as part of the 22nd Annual Blue Demon Invitational. It will be a one mile course over cross country terrain. It is open to anyone in these three grades at NO COST!!! There will be a large crowd of older runners and spectators to cheer you on.



Time: The race will start at 8:30 a.m. There will other Varsity and JV races following immediately after your race. Stick around and watch the exciting high school races later in the morning. Please make sure you show up at least 30 minutes early to view the one mile course and get warmed up.



Location: Our course is laid out around the property of the Christiansburg Elementary and Primary Schools. The starting line will be located at the bottom of the big hill beside CPS (beside the green top). After the start, the runners will follow a clearly marked path to the finish of the one mile race. There will be a map at meet check in and there will be a four wheeler leading the way.



How to Register: Send your signed waiver form to the address listed below or register the morning of the race. If you register the morning of the race, do so at the check-in table with one of the meet officials. You can sign up at anytime between 8:00 - 8:20 am.
