Northwest Region Meet Summary Feb 25, 2007

(Photo by Brandon Miles). Despite a record day from senior April Sinkler in the jumps, the Brooke Point girls were unable to defend their regional team championship as the Cedar Run District champion Osbourn Park girls had too much firepower to stop at the Northwest Region Indoor Track & Field Championships held Friday at Liberty University's Tolsma Track Center. Meanwhile, Coach Dave Davis has quickly made the Mountain View boys a regional powerhouse not only in cross country, but in track as well as the second year school is only an outdoor championship from the triple title crown this year.

Northwest Region Meet Boys Preview Feb 23, 2007

The Mountain View boys will be looking to win their first indoor regional title as the second year school potentially can pull off the Northwest Region title triple crown this year after winning the cross country crown in the fall. The Commonwealth District champions will be the favorites in Friday's Northwest Region Indoor Track & Field Championships held at Liberty University's Tolsma Track Center behind a complete arsenal in the field and running events.

Brooke Point will look to two individuals to carry them to another regional championship in jumper April Sinkler and distance runner Brittany Copeland, while the Coach Mike Feldman's Osbourn girls will throw a well balanced attack to attempt to dethrone them.

Northwest Region Meet Coverage Feb 23, 2007

Sinkler US #4 39-8.25 TJ At the Northwest Region Meet at Liberty University's Tolsma Track Center in Lynchburg on Friday, the top performer of the meet went to Brooke Point senior April Sinkler as she set two meet records in the jumps with a state best and US #4 triple jump of 39'8.25" and also tied her season best of 5'8" in the high jump, which is a US top 5 performance. Her mark in the triple broke Sheena Johnson's 2000 meet record. Sinkler also won the long jump (18'4.50"). However, the Osbourn Park girls dethroned the Sinkler-led Brooke Point girls, while second year school Mountain View boys are now only an outdoor title away from the a triple crown (XC, indoor, outdoor) in the Northwest Region.
