GROUP AAA BOYS AND GIRLS STATE TRACK & FIELD MEET INFORMATION

 

 

The Group AAA State Track Meet will be conducted June 1 & 2, 2007 at Todd Stadium Newport News, VA. This meet will be run on a 400 meter track.  Group AAA District and Regional Directors are requested to run their meets on a 400 meter track.  If these meets are not conducted on metric track, each entry form submitted for the 2007 Boys and Girls Track and Field Championships must show the running event results which have been converted from the English System to the metric system of measurements. Failure to convert these entries by the director and/or coach will render the competitors INELIGIBLE.

 

ADMISSIONS:  $7.00 for both Friday and Saturday.  These prices were established by the VHSL Executive Council.  No charge for pre-school children accompanied by a paying spectator.  Each participant will need his/her competitor's number for admission.

 

COACHES MEETING:  The coaches' meeting is set for the bleachers under the press box at Todd Stadium.  Coaches may pick up school kits in the meeting room before and after the coaches meeting.  They will contain meet programs, competitors' numbers and name tags.  (Manager passes will be limited to two per team.  Two coaches passes will also be included in your team packets.  If you have more than two coaches contact your regional representative after the coaches meeting to secure additional pages.

 

FACILITY:  Todd Field track is a 400-meter track. Only 1/8" spikes or flats may be used.  No ground-down spikes are permitted.  Any athlete using spikes other than the 1/8" spikes will be disqualified from this meet.

 

HOUSING:  See list attached.

 

EQUIPMENT:  Each team must furnish its own towels, discus, shots and poles.  Starting blocks will be furnished by Todd Stadium.  Each contestant must wear proper track uniform which shall consist of a jersey (with a number provided by VHSL), trunks and shoes as identified in rule 4-3 of the current rulebook.  Dressing room facilities will NOT be available.

THE SHOT USED IN GIRLS COMPETION WILL BE 8lbs. 13 oz. (4.0 kg).  Make sure uniform letters are given to the meet director upon your arrival to Todd Stadium.  Note:  Vaulters will be weighed in.

 

SHOT AND DISCUS SECTORS:The 34.92 degree sectors will be used.

 

AWARDS:  Team Trophies (1st, 2nd & 3rd) will be presented at the conclusion of the meet.  Individual medals (1st-8th) will be presented to the coaches at the conclusion of the event. 

 

PARTICIPATION LIMITATIONS:  A contestant may compete in any number of field events. A contestant shall be limited to participation in only three running events for the two day meet.  Exception: An athlete participating in the 3200M run may participate in ONE other event that day. Note: An athlete participating in the 3200M relay on Friday can run ANY two events on Saturday. An athlete NOT participating in the 3200M relay on Friday can run compete in three events on Saturday OR the 3200M run plus one other race.

 

If a contestant is entered in a field event which conflicts in the time schedule with a track event in which he is entered, he shall make advance arrangements with the official in charge of the field event to postpone his trials until after the track event has been run.  No track or field event will be held up to accommodate a contestant.

 

NOTE:  Competitors shall be disqualified for an event if his/her coach, manager, attendant or any one associated with his/her team is on the infield, the track, the enclosure inside, or those areas designated only for officials and contestants actually participating or preparing for an event, after a running events start.

 

 

STATE MEET PROCEDURES:  For every running event, except those listed below, the runners will remain in their lanes throughout the entire race.

 

(A)              1600 Meter Relay - Three-turn stagger start.

(B)              3200 Meter Relay - To be determined

(C)              800 Meter Run - One-turn stagger start. 

(D)             1600 Meter Run - International Start

(E)              3200 Meter Run - International Start

 

 

ORDER OF EVENTS: Please note the 3200 meter relay has been moved to the first running event on Friday.

 

ELIGIBLE TO STATE MEET:  Entries may be only those contestants who place first, second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth in a Regional Meet or those contestants who were properly reported by the District or Regional Meet Director as having met the state qualifying standards at the District or Regional Championship Meet or have met the qualifying standard in the District or Regional Championship Meet (trials or finals) or who met the state qualifying standard in a meet of 10 or more teams and who have submitted the State Standard Verification form TO THE REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE.   

 

CONFIRMATION OF ENTRIES:  Contestants from a school will be confirmed for the meet UNLESS the coach E-mails his or her scratches by Noon Monday, May 28 to Frank Brown: fbrown@nngov.com

  

ALL COACHES FOLLOW THE REGIONAL DIRECTORS ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY.  THOSE ENTRY FORMS THAT COME FROM THE REGIONAL DIRECTORS TO THE STATE MEET DIRECTOR WILL BE CONSIDERED OFFICIAL AND FINAL.  COACHES MUST COMPLETE AND TURN IN THE ENCLOSED SPORTSMANSHIP AND EQUIPMENT CERTIFICATION TO THEIR REGIONAL REPRESENTITIVE PRIOR TO PICKING UP TEAM PACKETS.

ANY SCRATCHES IN THE RUNNING EVENTS AT THE COACHES MEETING PRIOR TO THE STATE MEET,  RENDERS THAT INDIVIDUAL INELIGIBLE FOR ANY RUNNING EVENT COMPETITION DURING THE STATE MEET.  (This includes relays)
