Meet Information

Squires Invitational will be held at Cave Spring High School. We have again updated several areas to improve the meet experience. Please look closely as we have added a new event and changed the format for the Field Events. Please be considerate of the start time as this meet will move expeditiously to finish. The meet director advises all teams to arrive by 8:30 AM.

Eligibility:
6th 7th and 8th grade students are allowed to participate.

Entries:
Each school is allowed three entries per event. Only one relay per event per team will be allowed. VHSL rules regarding event limitations will apply. All athletes must belong to their middle school team and must be accompanied by a coach from that school. Please contact Coach Loesel at Runnerlwl@aol.com or lloesel@rcs.k12.va.us for the meet file to download into Hy-Tek Team Manager. Entries are due by Wednesday, March 16th, 2016 at midnight.

Submitting Entries:

Milestat entries or Hy-Tek Team Manager.

Log onto www.milestat.com and use the online entry process (please see attached instructions).

Location
:
Cave Spring High School- 3712 Chaparral Drive Roanoke, VA 24018. Coming from I-81- take Exit 143. After exiting, travel on 581 for approximately 10.1 miles. Take Electric Rd/419 exit (Tanglewood Mall). Take a right off of the exit ramp onto 419 North. Travel 1.3 miles and take a left onto Chaparral Drive (Look for the 7-Eleven). Drive .9 miles on Chaparral Drive. Cave Spring is on the left.

Bus Parking:
New this year:

All buses will be allowed to have their teams dropped off in the main CSHS lot.

Buses are allowed to drop off their Track and Field athletes and then proceed to the FACULTY LOT next to the main lot.

Signage and lot attendants will assist with this process.

Under no circumstances are buses allowed to park in the main CSHS lot.

Entry Fees:
An entry fee of $125 per team ($250 for boys and girls teams together)
OR
Individuals: $10 per event or $20 per relay

Five or more student-athletes from a school are considered a team.

This is an entry fee, not a participation fee.

All entry fees are due by March 15, 2016.

Spectators
There will be an admission fee to all spectators. Adults $5/Children 3-10 $2

Awards:
The first six places will receive medals in each event.
The first second and third place teams will receive a trophy.

Individual MVP awards will be presented to:

1. Top M/F track event student-athlete
2. Top M/F field event student-athlete

Scoring:
The first six places will score. The standard point distribution of 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1 in each event will count towards the overall team score.

Seeding:
All Running Events will be seeded as Finals i.e.- we will not have any trials for any running events.

Running event seeding will run fast to slow.

Hurdles:
300 Hurdle height will be 30 for both boys and girls per district rules.

Field Events:
New this year:

All field events (excluding high jump) will have FINALS.

Field event seeding will be least to greatest.

We will take the top eight (8) to the finals.

Long/Triple Jump:
Each jumper will be given three (3) measured jumps each.

We will take the top eight (8) to the finals.

This will be in an open pit format.

High Jump:
The five-alive format will be followed. Please consult the VHSL officials handbook for more
Information. Starting heights for girls: 40, boys 44. Top three jumpers will receive metals.

Throws:
All throwers will be given three (3) measured throws each in their flight. We will take the top eight (8) to the finals.

NO WEIGH-IN
All implements thrown will be in-house. You may warm up with your own implement.

Boys/Girls Shot weight- 4K
Boys/Girls Discus- 1k- both rubber and rim weighted discus available.

Spikes:
CAVE SPRING HIGH SCHOOL: Spikes no longer then inch will be allowed. Immediate disqualification will result if longer spikes are used. Coaches, please help us with this!

T-Shirts will be on sale next to the Concession Stand.

NEW THIS YEAR:
Grandpa Ikes Doughnuts will be available for purchase during breakfast hours.

COACHES EAT FREE WITH THE SHOWING OF YOUR WRIST BAND (ASSISTANT COACHES AS WELL). ONLY ONE MEAL PER COACH! Grandpa Ikes doughnuts not included (sorry coaches).

There will be a concession stand for all student-athletes, parents, spectators at the Cave Spring facility.
