The VHSL Group 5A Outdoor T&F Championships saw a crazy race between two of Virginia's best. Syaira Richardson and Britton Wilson went head-to-head. The end result was a new Virginia record time of 53.36 set by Richardson. Wilson would finish a close second, running 54.60 after falling only feet before the finish line. The past two plus months have been leading to this. We have made it thru XC, indoor track, indoor nationals, and now we are finally at the big one. Group 5A & 6A Outdoor States should be the best of them all featuring close matchups and even closer team title battles.

Hasani Knight popped off a jump for the record books as his 51-03.25 is a new US #1 mark, a new 6A meet record and a 4 inch PR. Knights leap broke Garry Williams meet record of 49-1.5 that was set just last year in 2016. Last year at the Virgina 6A Championship Knight finished third with a 48-00 jump behind Perry Donkor and Garry Williams. Knight had a tremendous weekend as he also won the long jump in 24-3, won the 100m in 10.78 & took 5th in the 200m with a 21.98.RELATED LINKS:Results Videos Photos
Under longtime coach Dave Davis, the Sharks have flourished in athletics in its first year, in spite of a team roster stacked with freshmen and sophomores.
Bethel is known for their 400m runners so we had to see what it was all about. Spoiler alert, their workouts are super tough and there is no doubt they have one of the toughest workouts in Virginia.
