Meet Information
Jefferson District Meet featuring the Fluvanna County Flying Flucos, Louisa County Lions, and the Powhatan Indians. The meet is being hosted by the Orange County Fighting Hornets.
Planned schedule:
5:00 Varsity Girls (limit 9 runners)
5:45 Varsity Boys (limit 9 runners)
6:30 Open race (anyone not in other two races...8th graders welcome)
As you enter Montpelier off of Route 20 in Orange County, proceed straight and you will pass through an intersection after the guard gate. You will then be on a road facing the home (Montpelier), and you will be in the middle of the steeple chase course. There is ample parking here and the race will start to your left. You will see a nice section for tents. Please bring your own water. This is wonderful course for runners, but unfortunately, not very spectator friendly. If you choose to watch the start, it will be tough to see the runners again, though a quick ex-cross country runner can probably get to the 1/2 mile mark and would see them again at 2.7. However if you see them at 2.7 miles, getting back to the finish line will probably be nearly impossible. The course is fast and runs mostly over trails that have already been cut out by the Montpelier Staff. The mile in the middle of the race is a loop in the woods. The rest is in open fields.
If at all possible, provide a roster of everyone who might be running by Sept. 11 at 7:00 p.m. So I can assign bibs. You can e-mail or enter it on the site here.
