Lake Braddock sweeps titles, Butts wins 4 titles at Northern Region Meet Feb 24, 2008

The Lake Braddock boys and girls took home regional team titles at the Northern Region Championships, while Tynita Butts (pictured left by Ted Plunkett) was the star of the meet with a relay victory and three individual titles including a state best and US #4 mark of 19-00.75 in the long jump to help T.C. Williams to runner-up team showing. Chris Letson led the Lake Braddock boys as an individual champion in the 500 (1:05.37) and 300 (35.73) meter dashes as well as running on the Bruins first place 4x400 (3:26.40). Melanie Akwule played an equally important role for the Lake Braddock girls as a regional champion in the 55 meter hurdles (8.35) and runner-up in the 55 meter dash and triple jump. Thomas Edison boys were second behind Lake Braddock as the National District champions had a great meet from Ademola Titcombe as he matched the three titles won by Butts in the 55 meter dash (6.59), long jump (22'3"), and triple jump (45'1.25").
