The revival of the MileStat.com Cross Country Invitational! Aug 10, 2009

The revival of the MileStat.com Cross Country Invitational! Its been six years since the last cross country invitational was hosted by MileStat.com. A lot has changed since then.   The time of the year and venue should prove this event to be a place to come to run fast times to build confidence heading into championship season racing as they near their district meets within two weeks of the meet. The new Pocahontas State Park 5K course has proven to be a very fast course and host for the Dominion District Championships in the past few seasons as can be seen with the time differences from the district course to the regional course at Pole Green Park.   It is a legit 5K course, which runs fast primarily due to a flat first and final mile and a second mile which is mainly downhill or flat with the exception of a 400 meter hill heading into the two mile mark.   We hope you decide to join us for the revival of this event as we expect some fast times and great competition at the meet.   Meet Page w/ Information

MileStat.com Invitational Preview Oct 14, 2009

The return of the MileStat.com Cross Country Invitational after a 5 year hiatus brings in VA #4 Osbourn Park girls and VA #5 Lake Braddock facing off for the first time this season in a 5K race with the state's top two Group AAA teams after 4-time state champs Midlothian, which will run on the same course less than 2 weeks for their district championships. The boys individual will be loaded with 7 of the top 15 ranked runners in the state including #7 Colin Mearns, #8 Chris Foley, #10 Grant Pollock, #12 Michael Bailey, #13 Kevin Bennert, #14 Jordan White, and #15 Drew Paisley. The course record of 15:21 held by Jason Witt could be under assault with more than a half dozen guys having ran well under 16 minutes on more difficult courses this season.

MileStat.com Invitational: Pollock (15:20) and Karabinus (17:52) take down course records Oct 17, 2009

Both course records went down today at the revival of the MileStat.com Invitational held at Pocahontas State Park in Chesterfield County as Mills Godwin's Grant Pollock (pictured left by John Herzog) and Osbourn Park's Ariel Karabinus rolled on the fast 5K layout held under cool but ideal racing conditions. Pollock's 15:20 broke the old course record of 15:21 previously held by 2007 Foot Locker Finalist and AAA state cross country champion Jason Witt. Karabinus' 17:52 broke the old course record of 18:02 previously held by 2007 Foot Locker Finalist and AAA state cross country champion Kathleen Lautzenheiser of Midlothian.   Pollock and Karabinus both led their teams to dominant team victories as the Osbourn Park girls posted an impressive team average of 18:53 and team score of 33. AAA #2 ranked Osbourn Park was not able to have a showdown with AAA #3 ranked Lake Braddock as the bus failed to show to take the Bruins down I-95 from Burke.   Fast times throughout the field with five girls breaking 19 minutes and 26 breaking 20 minutes, while six boys dipped under 16 minutes and 42 runners posted times under 17 minutes.   Meet Results
