Norfolk Academy JV Championship Meet 2010

Norfolk, VA

Meet Information

This year marked the 23rd Annual running of the JV Championship at Norfolk Academy. The girls meet enjoyed a spirited competition for the top spot between Spratley Middle School from Hampton and Norfolk Academy. Spratley dominated the sprints and relays with a high scoring trio of Ashanti Jackson, Lauryn Robinson, and Twanika Washington. However Norfolk Academy edged them out by dominating the field events, in large part due to 7th grader Tyler Bannister who scored 62 points on the day including 4 field event wins. St. Matthews was 3rd and the top finisher of the Catholic middle schools in attendance.

In the boys meet Norfolk Academy had wins in both relays and 8 individual events as they went on to win the meet. Ninth Grader Darrell Boyce led the way with 26 individual points and their loan double individual event winner on the day was Patrick Robertson in the Shot and Discus. St. Matthews took the runner up spot with a very balanced attack in which they scored in all but two events. Jordan Guirrier led them with 22 individual points. Veritas took the third place spot by almost scoring more than all the other teams combined in the distance races.
