  • MileStat.com All-Decade Team Selection - Adam Linkenauger

From the cow fields of Daleville in Southwest Virginia, one would not have expected to find a 7 foot high jumper. Adam Linkenauger, a son of a dairy farmer, ended up becoming the best high jumper from Group AA this past decade including setting the Group AA indoor state met record. Linkenauger was victorious when he went up against the best from the larger schools including high jump titles at the Penn Relays and Southern Track Classic and earning All-American honors twice with a third place finish at Nike Indoor Nationals and fourth place finish at the adidas Outdoor Championships.   A 2003 graduate of Lord Botetourt High School, Linkenauger cleared 7 feet three times with a 7'0.25" best in his final high school meet at the 2003 adidas Outdoor Championships in Raleigh, North Carolina. A late comer to the sport, Linkenauger continued to excel in college at Clemson in which he won a grand total of seven ACC championships in the high jump and qualified numerous times for NCAA Nationals as the school record holder for the Tigers. He is the first athlete in ACC Outdoor Championship history to win an event in all four years of eligibility. Read more for interview with Adam Linkenauger...

  • Linkenauger took the advice of great heights

Just to think. Virginia\'s top high jumper in Lord Botetourt senior Adam Linkenauger could have been milking cows for the rest of his life if it was not for the advice of a brother. Instead Linkenauger is setting state meet records, earning All-American honors, and clearing the seven foot barrier in his gifted specialty of the high jump.
