Sixth Fork Union Invitational starting to take shape

FORK UNION, VA -- The last two years of the Fork Union Invitational saw a clash of the titans on the boys' side when now graduated seniors Kippy Keino and Alex Tatu locked horns. This year however, it may well be the ladies that supply the individual highlights. Defending champion Katie Doswell will be back as will the Fanning sisters of the defending AA champion Western Albemarle. Throw in the possibility of an appearance by Anna Chase and this meet could produce another course record. Also look for Thomas Dale's Bridgett Dryer to finish very high.

On the boys' side, look for Albemarle's Hari Mix to contend for the overall title. Mix has been one of Central Virginia's top runners since the ninth grade. Look for him to make a statement on the 13th. As for the team title, don't be surprised if for the first time in meet history a private school claims the top prize. Both Saint Christopher's and Collegiate are very strong and feature close time gaps at one through five.

The meet is run on the Hardy Cross Country Course at Fork Union Military Academy. This year the meet is sponsored by the Fork Union Running Camp and offers awards to the top 50 in both the Varsity and J.V. races. Entries are starting to come in and will be accepted until September 10th. Stay tunes to Milestat for more updates.
