The Edison girls have 52 points after five events, although they won just one event. That was by junior Keosha Simonson as she captured the triple jump at a seasonal best 35-7.75.
Simonson was also second in the long jump with another seasonal best of 15-7.5; tied for second in the high jump (4-8) and placed fifth in the shot put (27-7).
Yorktown sits in second with 42 points and set a new district meet record of 10:09.54 in the 4x800 relay  with their team of junior Lyndsey Wilcox along with sophomores Amber Haling, Colleen Cain and Andrea Oaxaca.
Oaxaca came from behind to win on the last lap as she split 2:21 to overtake Washington-Lee anchor Sarah Weber (2:24), with both W-L (10:10.98) and third place Falls Church (10:14.94) under the old meet record as well.
Mount Vernon currently has 28 points in third place and had two individual winners with sophomore Elizabeth Ball capturing the shot put at 32-9.25 and senior Assiatu Williams the winner in the high jump at 4-10.
The other victory came from Wakefield sophomore Sarah Sneed, who entered the long jump with no distance attained this season since she had no competition outside of the Thomas Jefferson Community Center and Sneed was still able to respond with the event's top mark at 15-8
