ESTES ATHLETIC CENTER GETS NEW LOOK

Fork Union Military Academy recently finished an upgrade to the famed Estes Athletic Center. Beynon Surfaces poured the new polyurethane surface over top of the existing one, which has made for a much more comfortable feel. The new color scheme greatly enhances the lighting in the nineteen- year old facility. Another new feature is the surfaced hallways and lobby, which will cut down on damage from spiked shoes. That idea came from FUMA AD Micky Sullivan. Other new features include, one finish line and new relay zones which will be located in the corners rather than in the center of the straight-aways. The pole vault runway will be the same surface as the track, which will eliminate the need for a roll out runway and the shot put sector is now up to code as well.

The facility will get its first use in a meet in early December and will be an exciting addition to the Nineteenth FUMA Invitational.
