Dejarnette 3rd at USATF National JO\'s with PR height

Emma Dejarnette, one of the very few Virginians willing to make the trek across the country to California for the USATF National Junior Olympics Championships with the AAU Nationals closer by in border state Tennessee, made sure if she was going to make such a trip, it was going to be worth it. Bringing home a new personal best and All-American honors seems to have made the flight to California worthwhile as Dejarnette cleared a height of 11'11.75" to finish third in the intermediate girls division in the pole vault. Earning All-American honors in the event, the rising junior at Atlee High School, improved from her previous best height of 11'6". Already looked upon as the top returning pole vaulter in the state for next year, Dejarnette now is just a quarter inch away from joining a very exclusive and small club of past Virginian girls to have cleared 12 feet in the pole vault.
