Meet Highlights & Coverage:

  • Seahawk Invitational - In the matchup versus MD #1 and MD #2 in Maria Coffin of Annapolis and Hayley Jackson of Patuxtent, the race lived up to the hype with two ridiculous times of 17:23 for winner Coffin and 17:40 for runner-up Jackson. Jackson had started to pull away from Coffin at start of second mile, but Coffin rallied back for the win over the defending 2A state champion. The Loyola-Blakefield boys won as expected with a 1-3 finish from Frankie Legambi and Kenny Rowe with Legambi winning over Northern Calvert's Matt Bennett (sub 16 for runner-up) in 15:47. The Northern Calvert girls were bit of a surprise in winning the team title with Howard girls taking second and Mount St. Joseph's boys as runners-up.
  • Brunswick Invitational - Brit Lang became the first girl to ever break 19 minutes at the Brunswick Invitational's challenging 3 mile course layout in a runaway victory and time of 18:42. She was a minute and 24 seconds ahead of second place! It was an Oakland Mills sweep of the individual titles in large school division with Joey Navarro pulling away from Winters Mill's Taylor Russell (16:46) for a 16:41 win. The Northwest boys and Centennial girls were the team champs in large schools division. Fastest boys time of the day though belonged to small schools race champion Brian Cave of South Carroll rocking a 16:14 winning time, while the top two girls in the small school race dipped under 20 minutes in Catoctin's Julien Webster (1st, 19:43) and Erin Langille (2nd, 19:59).
  • Interstate Classic - River Hill boys and girls sweep the large school team titles looking like top teams again to compete for 3A state titles. Rohann Asfaw breaks 16 minutes on the very difficult course with a 15:57 PR performance to start his season. Smithsburg takes both small school individual titles with Will Merritt (16:31) and Erica Lindsay (21:29), while MD 1A top ranked Boonsboro boys and Smithsburg girls win the small school team titles.
  • Baltimore County Relays - A relaxed easy relay format opener for Baltimore County schools hosted by Towson. First meet for MD #1 ranked and NXN hopeful Dulaney boys.
  • Mustang Invitational - C.M. Wright hosts a two mile season opener for local schools.
  • Chancellor Invitational (VA) - Good Counsel swept the team and individual titles down in Virginia at Loriella Park with Jack Wavering (16:34) and Claudia Wendt (19:32) taking first place for their teams.
  • Northampton Invitational (PA) - MD #2 Severna Park show this will be no down year for their program putting up dual meet like score of 27 points in win at Pennsylvania meet including the state's fastest two 5K times so far from their front two in Andrew Forsyth (15:28) and Joshua Tucker (15:35).
