Drew Hunter On Foot Locker Win - I Won't Forget It

No. 1 ranked Drew Hunter of Loudon County, Va. won the 2015 Foot Locker Nationals in 14:55; his margin of victory was 12 seconds -- the largest spread since Lukas Verzbicas won by 15 seconds in 2009. Dennis Young talked to him for MileSplit immediately after the race.

How are you feeling right now?

Pretty good. It's a surreal feeling and it hasn't really hit me yet but its been my goal for a whole year now and everything came together and it worked out and it's awesome.

After you went through the mile in 4:30, what was the pain in the last 2K like?

It was hard because I was alone so it's really hard to push by yourself.. if there was someone there that had another gear but... I just knew I could finish strong adn I'd be fine and I would win the race.

What was going through your mind coming down the homestretch knowing you would win?

All the miles I've run over the summer, and everything's just worth it and when you have a goal for it to actually come out and be able to see it happen, work really hard for it... It means a lot. It's a really cool feeling and seeing everyone in the crowd - it was awesome, I won't forget it.

How are you gonna celebrate and relax now?

I haven't reallly thought about that. I'll cool down and then get something to eat and enjoy myself.

I respect people who cool down after the last race of the season.

Never stop running.
