Kate Murphy Chooses NXN, Reveals Top 3 Colleges

Gordon Mack from FloTrack interviewed Kate Murphy after filming an upcoming Workout Wednesday at Lake Braddock High School. She talks about choosing NXN over Foot Locker and announces three colleges to which she will take an official visit.

Murphy ranks No. 4 in the Saucony Flo50 this cross country season. She is the reigning adidas Dream Mile champion and ran PBs of 4:07.21 for 1500m and 9:10.51 for 3K this year. The latter run qualified her to compete at the IAAF World U20 Championships in Poland, where she placed 12th. Murphy is the third-fastest high school girl in U.S. history over 1500m and fifth-fastest all-time for 3K.

We also talked to Lake Braddock head coach Mike Mangan, who expounded on the No. 11 ranked girls team's goals and the frustration of choosing between Nike Cross Nationals and Foot Locker Nationals. He also reveals that Murphy will go after the 1K national high school record of 2:43.4 at the Freedom Games on January 7.
